The International Seminar on Contemporary Chinese Studies (SIECC), organized by the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), addresses the central theme: China on the Global Stage: Perspectives for Latin America and the Caribbean . This event was conceived as a multidisciplinary academic forum that sought to explore China's emergence as an influential country in the international context and its growing impact on the geopolitical and economic dynamics of Latin America and the Caribbean.

In recent decades, China has transformed its presence on the world stage, evolving from a regional actor to a major global influencer. This transformation has not only redefined international relations but has also had significant implications for Latin America and the Caribbean, a region seeking to navigate its own development and international cooperation challenges.

With the participation of more than 30 panelists from 15 countries, the seminar was envisioned as a point of convergence for the collective interpretation of current challenges and the formulation of a future that considers South-South cooperation, particularly between China and Latin America and the Caribbean, as essential for the formulation of consistent, long-term global policies. This meeting was an opportunity to share with professors and researchers from the FLACSO System's Academic Units in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, and Uruguay. We were also joined by panelists from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the Institute of Higher National Studies (IAEN) of Ecuador, the National University of Costa Rica (UNA), Externado University of Colombia, the University of Costa Rica (UCR), the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus in Barbados, the University of the Pacific in Peru, and the University of the Caribbean (UNICARIBE) in the Dominican Republic.
