The General Secretariat executes the mandates and delegations entrusted to it by the General Assembly, the Superior Council and the Executive Committee. The Secretary General has the general and legal representation of FLACSO. She participates in the Superior Council and the Assembly as its Secretary. Systematizes the reports, budgets and annual accountability of FLACSO. Coordinates academic and scientific cooperation activities at the regional level. Carries out negotiations with universities and other social and cultural institutions, in order to produce academic agreements. Registers and confers, along with the Academic Units, the postgraduate degrees. The Secretary General for the 2024-2028 period is Dr. Rebecca Forattini Lemos Igreja. The FLACSO General Secretariat is located in San José, Costa Rica.
