Sergio RIVERO

Director

PhD Candidate in Public Management and Business Sciences from the Central American Institute of Public Administration. Master in Economics from the Renmin University of China and Political Scientist from the University of Costa Rica. He has more than ten years of experience in trade, investment and international cooperation. He developed his professional career in Beijing, working in companies such as China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (SINOPEC) and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC). Since 2018, he has been a professor at the undergraduate and graduate level in Costa Rica, and also served as Academic Director of International Relations at the Latin American University of Science and Technology (2020-2021).

Andrés Raggio

Researcher and Chair assistant

PhD Candidate in International Relations from the Universidad del Salvador, Argentina. Hold a Diploma in International Studies and Degree in Political Science from the Universidad de la República (UdelaR), Uruguay. In addition, he studied the Specialization in Contemporary China at the National University of Lanús, Argentina. Since 2017 he is an aspiring Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, UdelaR. Coordinator of the Uruguay Section of the Latin American Association for Asian and African Studies (ALADAA). Member of the lnternational Confucian Association, REDCAEM, Red ALC-China, and of the Latino (and Hispanic) Americanist Academic Network on Sinological Studies. Research topics: Relations between Latin America and China; Chinese Foreign Policy; Uruguay-China relations.

Priscilla Villegas

Junior Researcher

A graduate of the Central American Master's Program in History at the University of Costa Rica and with a diploma in Chinese culture, philosophy, and historical development from FLACSO Uruguay, she is dedicated to research on elites, wealth, and power in Latin America, as well as infrastructure and the creation of modern states. Her hybrid approach, combining social and business history, specializes in Social Network Analysis (SNA) and graph theory. As a junior researcher at the Chair, she has explored various facets of diplomacy in China's relations with Latin America and the Caribbean.

He also completed a specialization in Contemporary China at the National University of Lanús, Argentina. Since 2017, he has been a candidate for Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law, UdelaR. He coordinates the Uruguayan section of the Latin American Association for Asian and African Studies (ALADAA), Uruguay. He is a member of the International Confucian Association, REDCAEM, the ALC-China Network, and the Latin American (and Hispanic) Academic Network on Sinological Studies. His research interests include: Latin American-China relations; Chinese foreign policy; and Uruguay-China relations.
